I need WORD instead of works and want microsoft excel, but don't really need it or want to pay.

I downloaded this www.OfficeBestDeal.com

And I can't open it on my cpu. Does anyone have open office and is it the same as microsoft word and or excel? Is this a fake open office? It says the the file is corrupt or incomplete.

I have and use open office.........it is the same.
The big downfall is trying to send someone a doc...OO saves docs as something else. So I have to copy and paste over to wordpad to send an attachment that can be opened up with Word.

I would rather have word and excel, but I don't use them enough at home at this time to justify paying for it.

Thanks, it seems to work now. If I can't send someone a word document, I may have to break down and get microsoft. Also, this open office has no grammar check, which would be nice.
